To those who have been, and to couch travelers worldwide:
I had always admired the exotic photos in National Geographic
magazine and looked forward to the weekly walk over from junior
high school to the local library. Never having been out of New
England, it was fascinating to discover the world that we didn't
see or hear about.
In high school one day during the late 60's, my math teacher
brought in some slides from a recent spring trip to London,
Paris and Rome. My mind was swirling at the slides, and I made
up my mind then and there that was what I wanted to do when I
was older, to see the world.
I had always been interested in photography and always had a
camera in my hand wherever I went. Though never having had any
lessons on the art of photography, I thought I had a good eye.
In my early days it was all black and white, and a weeks wait to
have my photos developed. My very first trip away from
home was to Salina Kansas to visit my cousins. It was for me
like going away to darkest Africa!! It was the start of a
dream for me. I began to travel Europe, then onto Russia and the
Middle East. Africa soon followed and then Australia.
South America was next on the list, but I did not feel that I
had "seen it all" until I reached Asia. It is a photographer's
dream ,and every turn is a photo moment. Asia is also home to
the friendliest people on earth. I will continue to travel and
photograph for many more years, and hope to retire in Thailand
when the time arrives.
Though an amateur photographer, I think I am now able to look at
an object or a location and determine whether it would make a
good photo. I love color and what it does to the surrounding
objects it borders. Sometimes less is really best, and often
times the least planned photo ends up being your favorite.
With the encouragement of my family, my co-workers, and good
friends all over the world, I have opened up this site for all
to enjoy and reflect on the beauty of nature, to ancient
history, and the harsh realities of everyday life in less
fortunate circumstances. I have been humbled to the core from my
travels, and realize through meeting people on my journeys that
you do not need all the trimmings in life to make you a happy
person.
A long time resident of Nashua New Hampshire, I think we are in
perhaps one of the most beautiful parts of the USA. The ocean is
near, the mountains to the north, and our world famous foliage
that attracts visitors from all over the world. So charge up
your batteries and lets take some photos!
